Children with special needs are all individuals, as are the family members who care for them. Magnum Opus provides a variety of servies to meet the needs of different families. Please read below to learn about our standard services. However, if you have a specific need or concern that does not seem to fit into one of these, please conact us; we will find a way to help you, or will refer you to someone who can.
Currently, our Intervention Center offers two programs. The first is our half-day, 1:2 program. Clients attend the Center for three-hour sessions, either in the morning or afternoon, five days per week. Each client is paired with another client for sessions, based on age and skill level. Behavior Technicians work 1:1 with each client for individualized programs, but also work with the two clients together for social, communication, and play skills.
Once clients are able to demonstrate a number of prerequisite skills in the 1:2 program (minimum of 6 weeks), they may qualify for the full day, 1:4 program. Clients attend the Center for 5-1/2 hour sessions, including lunch and recess, five days per week. Primary and secondary programs are available, so that clients may be grouped according to age, as well as skill level. Behavior Technicians work 1:1 with each client, aid clients in rotating among work stations, and facilitate group programs and games.
The Intervention Center Service Year Programs described above run from August to June, and may be funded by the Ohio Autism Scholarship Program.
The Magnum Opus Intervention Center offers a six week long program in the summer. Clients meet at the Center three full days each week. In the morning, they participate in traditional ABA programming in a 1:2 setting. After lunch and recess, clients enjoy a camp-like atmosphere, with crafts and games to facilitate social interaction and communication.
Space in the Summer Program is limited. Slots are opened to Service Year clients first, through April; then, if space is still available, slots are opened to the general public in May. The Summer Program begins at the end of June.
The cost of the Summer Program is separate from that of the Service Year Program. Please contact us for more information.
Many parents and guardians can feel overwhelmed when working with the public schools to have their children identified in the special education system, through an Evaluation Team Report (ETR), and/or when developing an Individualized Education Program (IEP). We can help! Magnum Opus will help you understand your rights in the process, and help you make sure that your child is getting the services s/he deserves. We do not guarantee that you will get everything you ask your school district for; however, we can help ensure that the laws are followed, and that your input as a parent is valued.
Magnum Opus occassionally offers trainingsfor parents and caretakers on various topics, from understanding your child's diagnosis, to behavior modification, and communication training. These trainings are offered to current clients first, but there is usually room for the general public to join. Group trainings require preregistration, and are always free to current clients (the general public is encouraged to contact the Center about rates).
Having trouble with certain behaviors at home? We can help you! Magnum Opus personnel will observe you and your child at home, discuss your concerns with you, and develop programs and interventions for you to use in targeting that behavior. The initial observation and consultation are free, and then you only pay for the amount of time that you are working one on one with our consultant. Discontinue training at any time.
